Sony Manufacturing Systems America, Inc. (SMSA), a sole subsidiary of Sony Manufacturing Systems Corporation, Japan (SMS), was founded in May of 1976. For over 30 years, the company strives to focus its capital business effort on manufacturing equipments and devices to aid technology research, design development and quality assurance for variety of industries like automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, surface mount (SMT/ pick & place) and Medical to be named a few.
The parent company SMS, founded in 1969 by Sony Corporation, now has more than 550 employees worldwide and produces more than 500 different products. In addition to its corporate office in Tokyo, Japan, SMS has manufacturing plants in Isehara, Kuki, Singapore and China as well as sales & marketing companies operating out of the United States, Taiwan and Germany.
SMS is recognized worldwide as a leader in technological innovation and is the world's largest producer of precision measurement and positioning tools, machinery, and scientific apparatus. One example of SMS’s innovation will be the Magnescale concept of applying magnetic recording technology to position transducers provides accurate and reliable performance in the harshest industrial environments associated with coolants, oil, metal chips, and dust.
Continuously, the R&D group at SMS is eagerly working on enhancing our customers’ development capabilities with value-added devices and production systems. The corporate management and its operation systems are also being reviewed on a regular basis to ensure meeting market demand and customer satisfaction. Our broad product lines can be applied to virtually all metalworking, woodworking, and general manufacturing machines, manual or automatic assembly lines that requires positioning, inspection, component placement, digital recording requirements.
In the United States, SMS is represented by SMSA with headquarter office in Orange County, California. Some of our more recent innovations include the DVD tester products using the latest improvements in testing speed, the EX Series data analysis system for the sound and vibration market and the newly launched Surface Mount Technology (SMT) in the North America market. The pick & place equipments targets both OEM and EMS companies providing smaller and faster placement efficiency for optimal results in assembly.
