SONY PRECISION TECHNOLOGY INTRODUCES NEW SL700 SERIES 1µm NON-CONTACT LINEAR ENCODER

– LAKE FOREST, CA – Sony Precision Technology America, Inc., a leading provider of precision measurement devices, will introduce its newest DIGIRULERR digital linear encoder, the SL700 Series at the IMTS. Developed using Sony's proprietary MR technology, these new linear encoders offer high response speed and resolution with the flexibility to fit a wide variety of applications.

The SL700 Series linear encoders are available with or without a reference mark, multi-point (every 60mm), or distance-coded reference marks. This low profile ribbon scale is easily installed with self-adhesive tape by just peeling the tape from the back of the scale and fixing it in place. Although an open scale, Sony's magnetic technology sets the SL700 Series apart because it's not affected by dust or oil and is extremely robust against shock and vibration. The scale is available in lengths from 50 to 3,000mm.

The PL101 non-contact scanning head provides an 800mm, 1-Volt peak-to-peak, differential, sinusoidal output. Its small cross-section is perfect for those tight-fitting applications. Although many controls can accept this signal, others require the optional MJ620 interpolation and digitizing electronic unit, which converts the PL101 sinusoidal signal to an RS-422, 5-volt, A/B, line-driver output with selectable resolutions from 1 to 25µm and a maximum response speed of 56 meters/second (10µm resolution).

Ideally suited for linear motor, pick-and-place, or other industrial applications, the SL700 Series DIGIRULER is perfect for those customers who are looking for small size, non-contact linear encoders that provide high resolution and response speed at reasonable prices.
